AION 2 Global vs Korea: What's Different, With NC's Own Sources

AION 2 launched in Korea before the global version, so a lot of guides, videos and wikis describe the Korean (KR) version. Some of that carries over to Global and some doesn't. The table below compares the two feature by feature. Each Global entry comes from NC's global notices, and each KR entry is clearly labelled as KR.

KR-version claims you'll see that aren't Global rules

Seen any of these in a guide or video? They come from material about the Korean version. Here's what NC's global notices say instead.

  • "Brawler" as a class. Brawler arrived in the Korean version's Chapter 1 (NC newsroom). Global has 8 classes, and Brawler isn't one of them.
  • "Elementalist." The Global name is Spiritmaster.
  • Transfer requirements from other guides. NC's Global transfer notice says transfers start Oct 14, you stay in the same faction, Early Access servers can transfer only to other Early Access servers, and transfers are free at first. NC hasn't published level, cost or legion requirements for Global.
  • Membership details from KR guides. Global has one membership product, the Special Quai Membership, with its own price and benefits.
  • A level cap of 50. NC says the Korean version's cap increased to 50 with Chapter 1 (NC newsroom). NC hasn't published a Global level cap in the notices we use, so check the cap shown in game.
  • "Will AION 2 go global?" It has. The global version is out on Steam and PURPLE.

Using KR guides safely

KR guides can still help with general mechanics. Before you follow one, run through this checklist:

  1. Check the date. Guides from before the global launch are most likely about the KR or TW version.
  2. Look for KR-only markers: Brawler, Chapter 1, Morheim or Eltnen, a level cap of 50, or "Elementalist."
  3. Check class names. Global uses Sorcerer and Spiritmaster.
  4. Check prices and shop items against NC's global notices. KR shop items and prices don't automatically apply.
  5. Treat dates and server names as KR-only unless a global notice confirms them.

For the Global class list, see AION 2 classes. For membership details, see free to play and membership.

FAQ

Is AION 2 Global the same game as the Korean version? It's the same game, but run as a separate service. Global has 8 classes, its own Season 1 products, one membership product and its own server rules, and progress from KR or TW doesn't carry over.

Is Brawler in AION 2 Global? No. Brawler is a Korean-version class that arrived with Chapter 1 on July 1 (NC newsroom, KR; English release). Global has 8 classes, and NC hasn't announced Brawler for Global in the notices we use.

Is Elementalist the same as Spiritmaster? Yes. "Elementalist" is the name older English guides used. In Global, the class is called Spiritmaster.

Can I bring my KR or TW character to Global? No. NC's Launch FAQ says progress from the KR or TW versions doesn't carry over.

Is AION 2 Global region-locked? It can't be played or paid for from the countries on NC's restricted list, which includes the Republic of Korea and Taiwan. The full list is also on our Steam vs PURPLE page.

Can I use a VPN to play the Korean version? This guide doesn't cover that. Global is a separate service, and KR progress doesn't carry over.

Is AION 2 Global pay-to-win? We don't give a verdict. NC says shop cosmetics give no stats. For what the membership changes, see free to play and membership.

Do Twitch Drops work on KR servers? No. NC says Drops are for Global server players only. See Twitch Drops.
