AION 2 Global Servers and Regions: How to Pick a Server
Before you make a character in AION 2 Global, you choose a region, a faction and a server. This page lists every region and server pair from NC's own server notices, explains what each choice changes, and covers the transfer rules NC has announced.
TL;DR
Pick your region first (Europe, NA West, NA East, Latin America or ASIA), then your faction, then a server. Each server is one faction, paired with an opposite-faction server. Dungeons are cross-server, so friends on other servers can still party. Transfers within the same faction open Oct 14.
- Server list: NC's server notice lists Launch Servers and Early Access servers for all five regions; the full list by region is below.
- Launch Servers: the second wave of servers, open from official launch (Oct 5, 06:00 PDT / 13:00 UTC). The Early Access servers also appear in NC's current list.
- Transfer limits: Early Access characters move only between Early Access servers, and transfers are free at first.
- Restricted countries: NC doesn't allow play or payments from some countries; the list is in our Steam vs PURPLE guide.
How server selection works: Region → Faction → Server
NC's server notice puts it in one line: "When you launch Aion 2, you'll first choose your Region, then your Faction, and finally select from the available servers in that region."
- Region. Europe, NA West, NA East, Latin America or ASIA. Each region has its own list of servers.
- Faction. Elyos or Asmodian. NC says "each server houses only one faction", so this choice decides which half of the server list you see.
- Server. Pick one of that region's servers for your faction. "Every Elyos server is paired with an Asmodian counterpart, giving both factions their own home while still meeting in shared PvP spaces like the Abyss."
The platform doesn't change any of this. NC's launch FAQ says Steam and PURPLE players share the same servers, so you and a friend on the other launcher see the same list (more on that in our Steam vs PURPLE guide).
AION 2 Global server list by region
These are the pairs in NC's New Server and Matchmaking Information notice. NC puts the Elyos server first and lists two kinds of server in every region: Launch Servers, open from official launch (Oct 5), and the Advanced Access servers that opened for Early Access, which also appear in NC's current list. Server names repeat across regions, but each region's servers are separate. NC updates this list on its notice board; check the notice for changes.

Pairings are temporary. NC says each Elyos server is paired with an Asmodian server "for a limited time", and adds: "We will update server pairings periodically to keep the factions balanced." Your pair decides who you fight: whenever you enter the Abyss or another cross-faction mode, the players you meet from the other faction come from your matched server.
Several pairs were added during Early Access through NC's "New Servers Opening" notices: Yustiel / Marchutan, Fregion / Ereshkigal, Meslamtaeda / Beritra and Hithanya / Nemon in Europe, Vaizel / Triniel in NA East, and Nezekan / Zikel in NA West. For Hithanya / Nemon, NC's notice lists 03:00 PDT / 12:00 CEST. Each notice is linked at the end of this page.
Where are the servers? (and "ASIA")
NC's launch FAQ answers the region question with: "We have confirmed server locations in North America, South America, Europe, and Japan." NC's server lists show the regions as Europe, NA West, NA East, Latin America and ASIA. NC hasn't said which location each region's servers run from, so treat the FAQ line and the region names as two separate statements.
Early Access servers vs launch servers

NC opened the first wave of servers for Early Access: "Only players who purchased any tier of Founder's Pack will be able to access them initially." It also says that "Players who did not purchase Early Access will also be able to join Early Access servers if those servers remain open and available at launch." The second wave, Launch Servers, is open from official launch (Oct 5).
| Question | Early Access server | Launch server |
|---|---|---|
| Who can join? | Founder's Pack buyers first; anyone from launch, if the server stays open and available | Everyone, from official launch |
| Party matching | During Early Access: all Early Access servers in your region. From launch: Early Access and Launch servers in your region | Early Access and Launch servers in your region |
| Abyss matching | During Early Access: Early Access servers only. After launch: matched by how far along and how strong each server is | After launch: matched by how far along and how strong each server is |
| Transfers (from Oct 14, same faction) | Only to other Early Access servers | NC hasn't published launch-server rules beyond "same faction" |

NC's schedule had Advanced Access running until Oct 4, 22:00 PDT, followed by maintenance, with the global launch at Oct 5, 06:00 PDT / 13:00 UTC (that's 09:00 EDT, 10:00 BRT, 15:00 CEST and 22:00 JST). NC adds that "Maintenance times are subject to change so please stay tuned into social channels for any updates."
Does your server choice matter?
Some things depend on your server and some don't. Here is what NC says for each:
- Dungeons and friends: no. NC says "all instanced content including dungeons are available cross-server", and "even if you and your friends start on different servers, you can always party up for dungeons and add each other as friends."
- Membership: yes. NC says membership benefits "apply to all characters on the server where the membership was purchased and do not apply to characters on other servers". The free-to-play and membership guide covers what the Special Quai Membership includes.
- Market: until the Cross-Server Market opens. NC's Server Market is "your world's local trading hub", where you trade with players on your server using Kina. A Cross-Server Market for all servers in your region opens after release, "once participating servers have reached a similar stage in the game", and NC promises more details before it opens.
- Founder's Pack items: yes. NC's table marks most Founder's Pack items as character-bound or server-bound, so claim them on the server where your main character lives. Our Founder's Pack guide has the full binding table.
- Abyss opponents: yes, while the current pairings stand. They come from your paired server unless NC changes the pairings.
Region lock and restricted countries
Inside the game, the region you pick decides which server list you see; separately, NC doesn't allow play or payments from some countries. NC's country list is in the restricted countries section of our Steam vs PURPLE guide, and the PURPLE region setting needed in some Southeast Asian countries is in its Southeast Asia section.
Can you change server later? Transfers from Oct 14
Yes, within limits. NC's transfer notice says: "Server transfers will be available in the future starting on October 14th and you'll have a chance to move between servers within the same faction at that time."
- Same faction only. NC describes moves between servers within the same faction.
- Early Access characters stay on Early Access servers. NC: "Early Access players may only transfer between Early Access Servers, and not commercial launch servers."
- Free at first. NC: "Server Transfers will initially be free during this period!"

NC hasn't published the transfer steps, a start hour or the cost after the free period. Its infographic promises more details "in a dedicated announcement".
Server full or a queue?
When a server is at capacity, you wait in a queue, and NC's advice for players joining during busy times is to "consider creating your character on a recommended server" or to join new servers as they open. Our queue and login errors page covers NC's priority-queue rule, what to do when a server is full, and NC's fix for each login error.
FAQ
Which AION 2 server should I pick? NC doesn't publish a list of recommended servers. Its advice is to "consider creating your character on a recommended server", and "We encourage players to join new servers as they become available." Pick the region you play from, then agree a faction and server with your friends; dungeons are cross-server either way.
Does AION 2 have NA servers? Yes. NC's lists have two North American regions: NA West (2 pairs) and NA East (3 pairs). Latin America has its own region with 2 pairs.
Is AION 2 Global region-locked? NC doesn't allow play or payments from the countries on its restricted list (see the restricted countries section). In the game, you choose your region before your faction and server.
Can I play with friends on another server? For dungeons, yes. NC says you can party up for dungeons and add each other as friends even if you start on different servers. From Oct 14, transfers within the same faction let you move closer, with Early Access characters limited to Early Access servers.
Do I lose my character if I transfer? NC's transfer notice describes moving between servers within the same faction from Oct 14, Early Access characters only between Early Access servers, with transfers free at first. For what carries over, check NC's transfer procedure notice on the notice board once NC posts it.
