AION 2 Market and Kina Rules (Global)

Kina is AION 2's in-game currency, earned through play and used on the Market. According to NC's membership table, without the Special Quai Membership you can't list or buy on the Market, and the Kina ↔ Quna exchange is membership-only. NC hasn't announced an opening date for the region-wide Cross-Server Market; until it opens, each server has its own Market.

This page sticks to NC's own rules for the Market and Kina. It has no farming routes, no prices and no seller links.

TL;DR

Kina vs Quna

NC's business model overview describes the two currencies like this:

CurrencyNC's description
Kina"Currency of the Market and earned through gameplay."
Quna"Premium currency. Buys shop items, unlocks the Battle Pass, acquires Kina via The Exchange."

NC's global notices spell them Kina and Quna. You'll also see "kinah" and "Kuna" in videos and older guides. They mean the same currencies.

The Market without a membership

NC's membership benefit table has this Market row:

Without membershipWith membership
Market"Items cannot be listed for sale/Purchase unavailable""Items can be listed for sale/Purchase available"

Some guides say free players are only blocked from selling; NC's table says listing and buying are both unavailable without the membership. In other words, without the membership, items can't be listed for sale and can't be bought on the Market.

The Special Quai Membership costs $14.99 for 30 days and covers every character on the server where you buy it. What else it includes is on our free to play and membership page.

Server Market and Cross-Server Market

There are two Markets, not one:

Until the Cross-Server Market opens, the Market you use is the one on your own server, so your server choice matters. Our servers and regions guide lists every region and server.

Kina ↔ Quna exchange

NC's membership table has an Exchange row: "Exchange unavailable" without the membership, "Kina ↔ Quna exchange available" with it. NC's business model overview says Quna "acquires Kina via The Exchange". So the official way to turn Quna into Kina is the Exchange, and it needs the Special Quai Membership.

World Market and World Exchange

NC's membership notice has two lines on this and doesn't explain how they relate:

NC's change note says the World Exchange benefit was removed, and NC hasn't announced an opening date for the Cross-Server Market; check in game.

Personal trade

Some guides say direct trading is disabled. NC has said both:

NC sourceWhat it says
Launch Scale Test Comes to a Close"As an anti-bot measure, direct player-to-player trades are disabled. The Market remains our central hub for trading between players."
Special Quai Membership product notice"Personal Trade available 5 times a day (The other player must also have an active Special Quai Membership.)"

Check in game before you plan a direct trade.

Trading Kina for cash is against NC's rules

NC's Code of Conduct for AION 2 Global lists trading game items for real goods among the activities it prohibits. NC defines that as "directly or indirectly transferring, lending, or borrowing Game Items (including items, coins, points, and shop items) in exchange for Real Goods (including cash, goods, and services available outside of our services)."

On the consequence, NC says that attempting, advertising, assisting in or participating in it "is a punishable offense and will result in a penalty to your account." The Code of Conduct adds: "If a violation is confirmed as a result of our investigations, NC may, in its sole discretion, issue a penalty to the relevant service account." It doesn't name a specific penalty.

Separately, NC's Warning About Purchasing Illicit Currency notice adds a second warning for Kina and Quna obtained from unauthorized third parties: NC says it monitors such purchases, that they are against its Terms of Service, and that the consequences can go as far as termination of access to the game.

The official route from Quna to Kina is the Exchange described above. This page doesn't name or link any third-party site.

FAQ

Can free players sell on the Market? No. NC's membership table says that without the membership, items can't be listed for sale and can't be bought on the Market.

Can I exchange Quna for Kina? Only with the membership. NC's overview says Quna "acquires Kina via The Exchange", and NC's membership table lists the Kina ↔ Quna exchange as unavailable without it.

What's the Cross-Server Market? NC's region-wide Market, connecting players across all servers in your region. NC ties the opening to participating servers having "reached a similar stage in the game" and hasn't announced an opening date. Until it opens, each server has its own Server Market.

Does AION 2 have trading? Yes, through the Market: the Server Market on each server, and the region-wide Cross-Server Market once it opens (NC hasn't announced a date). Listing and buying need the membership. For direct trades, NC has said both that they're disabled and that members get 5 a day, so check in game.

Can paying cash for Kina get my account penalized? Yes. NC's Code of Conduct prohibits trading game items for cash or other real goods and says it "is a punishable offense and will result in a penalty to your account." It doesn't name a specific penalty.
